Such a great story。 Sometimes scars are not only on the outside but can reach inside too, such as Rena has。 She is very independent and thinks no man would want a scarred woman who dresses in trousers。 Josh meets her and is entranced。 He knows he should look for a woman who will teach his daughter to be a lady but Rena touches his heart。 Will Rena find a way to let love back in her heart?

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I loved this story placed in my new favorite town of Holiday。 Rena is a young woman who has had unspeakable tragedies in her life which leads her to leave her home state of Texas and travel on her donkey to Oregon to live with her cousin。 She is unconventional in her dressing as she wears pants, not dresses as all or most women do in this historical time piece。 She gets as far as Denver and catches the train and rides where her donkey has to ride。 Then in Baker City she gets off and rides her do I loved this story placed in my new favorite town of Holiday。 Rena is a young woman who has had unspeakable tragedies in her life which leads her to leave her home state of Texas and travel on her donkey to Oregon to live with her cousin。 She is unconventional in her dressing as she wears pants, not dresses as all or most women do in this historical time piece。 She gets as far as Denver and catches the train and rides where her donkey has to ride。 Then in Baker City she gets off and rides her donkey the rest of the way。 When she arrives, she is glad to see Theo's home is next to water so she jumps in to bath and get the dust of the trail off of her。 Her cousin is aware of her dress and it doesn't bother him。 She finds a package waiting for her from her cousin who is Theo's sister。 Oddly she finds a pretty pink pistol along with other goodies in the box。 The note tells her the pink pistol was Annie Oakley's which makes Rena happy as she is such a fan。 It says something like this pistol will bring you luck and if you marry you must pass it on to someone else。 Marriage is not on her mind。 No one would want her after her accident。A friend of Theo's shows up with his daughter for dinner and finds this woman at Theo's house shooting hearts she cut out and hanging on the fence, with the pink pistol。 He's rather curious。This story from here is very fun and fascinating and gives Josh something to think a bought as he lost his wife and Gabby's mother。It's a fun and captivating read。 This is the second book in the series involving the pink pistol as it gets sent to other unmarried women。 Simply a wonderful fun story to read。 I received this as an ARC and this is my own opinion on the story。 。。。more

The romantic interest begins to flame in Josh immediately。 Looking for work, she assists Theo as a “blast monkey” working in dirty and dangerous mine demolition。 So unusual is Rena’s demeanor and appearance in men’s clothes that the town’s folks suspicions are aroused against her。 Josh cannot stay away from Rena and Gabi adores her。 The last woman Josh would consider as a wife and mother is Rena but he just can’t help himself。 Can these two people with such physical and emotional tragedies in their lives make a romantic go of it? It is only fitting here to highlight this most clever and original series: The Pink Pistol Sisterhood which follows the revolver from its legendary owner, Annie Oakley, from the 1890’s to the present day and the adventures of the ladies who owned it along the way。 Can I hardly wait to read all of these stories? Well, Yeah! 。。。more

She rode her trusty mule, Scout, most of the way, then loaded the two of them up in the stock car of a train into Montana, where she unloaded and took off walking again。 Despite her slight limp, she made very good time, and surprised her cousin by arriving much earlier than anticipated, due to riding the train for part of the trip。 。 Her brother’s friend and his little girl showed up at her cousin’s cabin before Theo did! Rena had gone down to the river to bathe and put fresh clothes on and had fallen asleep on a rock, when she was awoken by a scream from the cutest little blonde curly-haired girl she’d ever seen! The little girl screamed she was so frightened and Rena pulled her gun on the child as a natural reflex! The Dad, Josh Gatlin came running as quickly as he could and there he found Rena, and his daughter。 Thankfully, not one thing was wrong。 She had simply gotten scared because he had taught her that if she went out into the woods by herself a nymph might get her and carry her off。 So, the first thing she had asked was if Rena was a nymph or a fairy! After she found out that although Rena wore pants, she was just a woman, then she took to her like a moth to a flame。 They had a wonderful meal together and a friendship was born。 After the friends left, Theo got a couple of packages down from a shelf and told Rena that she had had a birthday while traveling。 One gift was from him, and one was from his sister, Rena’s only other living relative, Theo’s sister, Laura。 Theo had remembered Rena’s love of drawing and had bought her a sketch book and paints and then she opened Laura’s gift。 It was in a beautiful trunk to protect the box inside。 The box inside held the most beautiful pink pistol with mother-of-pearl inlay! Rena was shocked at it’s small size and it’s beauty and elegance。 Then, she read the note from her cousin and felt her anger start to slowly burn。 She told Theo she was totally exhausted and she climbed the rung to the loft and tried to sleep。 How dare Laura tell her she hoped she would find “LOVE” in Holiday and that she hoped the gun really did bring her that love。 What nonsense!! She fumed for a long time, but sleep overtook her。 The next day, Theo had to go to work and she read her cousin’s letter again after having had some rest and some breakfast and she realized that Laura had not written it with any unkind intentions。 I want to tell you ALL about this book, but I don’t want to ruin your opportunity to read it for yourself and enjoy every single moment of it, the way I did。 With this in mind, I’m not going to tell you whether or not Rena goes to work at the mine, and, if so, whether it’s a good experience or bad。 I’m not going to tell you if she reconciles her heart to God or not。 I’m not going to tell you whether or not she does fall in love with a man in Holiday or Baker City, where she got off of the train to finish walking to Holiday。 I’m not going to tell you if she stays in Holiday or moves back to Texas。 I am asking you to buy this book for yourself and find out the answer to all of these questions and then some! It is such a wonderful, delightful book! I really loved it a lot! I know you will, too! I’ve never steered you wrong yet, have I? 。。。more

I knew this book was going to be special when Rena was first introduced。 Her character made this story blossom into one I couldn’t put down。 Visiting old friends from Holiday is always a treat。 Josh, Gabe and Theo were so fun and provided a comic relief I can’t not having now。 To me there’s always something special when an irresistible child is involved。 This book just kept adding surprises, or should I say people, that made this story take on a life of its own。 Fantastic! Book gifted to me。
